“Some people expect to win. Others prepare to win.”
I believe winners are made, not born. Each one of us has winning characteristics and the ability to succeed; we just need to put a few key things together to achieve greatness. So, what’s the formula for creating a successful athlete?
Hard work. Sacrifice. Dedication. Talent. And commitment. Whether you’re a high school volleyball player, or an NFL line backer, there are certain characteristics all athletes have in common. Successful athletes everywhere share many similar traits, but there are a few qualities an athlete must possess in order to rise to the top: Humility, Confidence, Tenacity, Respect, and Accountability. These qualities reach far beyond an athlete’s sport and stretch into life.
How can we translate these positive traits and tendencies into our daily training?
Decide. Commit. Succeed.
Hard work and dedication are what matter. Make training a part of daily life. Training is about trying to be better than you were yesterday. Commit yourself to the program and watch the results happen.
You don’t have to be a professional athlete or an Olympic champion to be a successful athlete. You do, however, have to be committed to being the best you can be. Start by defining what being “the best” means to you. Decide what outcomes or results constitute success. By doing this, you’re able to better determine your path to success.
To me, having clients decide to show up consistently, commit to working hard, and having fun is success. This to me is a huge win. This to me is success.
