So you’ve been thinking about trying CrossFit but maybe you’re feeling a little nervous about joining in. You’ve done your homework: read the blog posts, checked out the main site, even gave the Workout of the Day a try, but you’re still on the fence. Maybe you’ve seen videos of ordinary people just like you doing amazing things and thought, “I could never do that.” Maybe you’ve heard the classes are competitive but you’re not the competitive type; or maybe you’ve heard that the workouts are really tough but you feel too out of shape to try.
Relax. You don’t have to be an athlete to become a CrossFitter.
Are the workouts challenging? Absolutely! But CrossFit is not about jumping in and being great—or even good—at your first WOD. This is about doing something unknown and unknowable in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.
Your decision to try CrossFit is about having the confidence in yourself to try something new while giving yourself permission to achieve your goals. This is about making a decision to be stronger, healthier, and happier. Crossfit isn’t a fad “Get Fit Quick!” program—it’s about making lifestyle changes that will not only make you stronger and fitter but also more confident and determined.
You’ve probably already heard about how awesome our community is. Our athletes inspire each other, support each other, and care about each other. You become part of a team. This camaraderie is infectious; it develops a foundation for success you won’t find anywhere else.
Still a little worried? Don’t be.
Visit your local box and watch a class. Introduce yourself to the trainers and talk to the other athletes. Tour the gym and get a feel for the vibe of the box and its people. Before you know it, you’ll feel right at home and ready to start posting your own time to the white board.
So for all those who want to try CrossFit but don’t think they are ready…it’s not about being ready—we’re all ready! The question shouldn’t be, “Am I ready for CrossFit?” but, “Is CrossFit ready for me?”
